B J Campbell South West Ltd is a family run building company with over 40 years experience of the construction industry.

We strongly believe in building a personal rapport with our clients to develop a better understanding of their requirements and expectations and we guarantee direct access to senior managerial staff at all times.

We are a Somerset based firm with a good reputation for the quality of our work – in refurbishment, conversion and extension projects as well as new build – and for the cost effective way in which we work.

Working in the South West, we bring a competitive cost structure, flexibility and attention to detail to all our projects.

This website is just a ‘snapshot’ of our company. We would be pleased to discuss any potential project with you and are always willing to show potential clients around any of our previous developments be they industrial, commercial or residential.

Our commercial and industrial projects range from small retail space conversions for Costa Coffee in Bristol to a 5,250 m2 new production facility and office space for Form Pro Mail Marketing in Bristol.
Our clients include St John Ambulance where we have constructed new training facilities and ambulance station in Bath and also the Maritime Coastguard Agency where we carried out a refurbishments on their listed building in Brixham and a new lifeboat station in Bigbury-on-Sea, South Devon.

We have worked in the education sector having recently completed a new Sixth Form Centre at Ivybridge Community School and also the health sector with the construction of a timber framed multiple sclerosis centre for Moonstone Therapy.

Whatever your requirements are we are happy to help, discuss and advise.

Campbell’s approach to Design and Build is fully integrated and involves a dedicated team of professionals all working together throughout the project, from the initial design to building completion.

Our residential projects vary from small house extensions to a recently completed new build 560 m2 contemporary house with indoor swimming pool. We have also completed many barn conversions where the brief has varied from the clients requiring a sympathetic, traditional renovation to a minimalist contemporary conversion within the original barn shell.

We find that a lot of our clients are now looking to construction methods to provide them with a “low energy” home and we are happy to advise any potential clients on methods to achieve this. We have experience with insulated raft foundation systems which is a “passivhaus” certified foundation system that offers speed and cost advantages and also ICF (Insulating Concrete Form) walls. Both provide excellent thermal performance along with greater sustainability and efficiency.

Many of our clients are also looking to natural energy methods for their home heating and this can be achieved through the installation of ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps. Both these systems can be combined with other systems such as Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) and Solar Thermal panels to provide even greater benefits.

So whether you’re looking for a new build “passivhaus” system or simply a “living green roof” on your extension we are happy to advise and provide a quotation.
